Asian Horror: Faces of angels... minds of killers
Horror movies from East Asian countries have recently had a massive surge in popularity. Predominantly Hong Kong, J-Horror from Japan and K-Horror from Korea although many quality horror movies are starting to emerge from Thailand, The Phillipines, Singapore and Malaysia.
Asian Horror Movies are heavily influenced by the folk-lore and traditions of the society from which they emerge. J-Horror tends to focus on psychological terror and the supernatural often with some deeper meaning. K-Horror follows the same patterns but tends to be darker and more atmospheric than it's Japanese counterpart.
Of course there are exceptions to the rule, the East has also given us the extreme and bizarre movies of Takashi Mike and Sci-Fi Horror's such as Meatball Machine and Tetsuo: The Iron Man.
