Horror Extreme - More Asian Extreme Horror
Since our last Asian Extreme Horror Feature the writers at Horror Extreme have seen so many outstanding Asian Horror Movies that we just had to write another Asian Horror feature. So, for all you fans of Asian Horror, here are the latest ten spectacular movies from Asia that have hit our DVD players.

Dumplings (Gaau ji)

Dumplings - Asian Extreme Horror from Fruit Chan
Dumplings is a sick and twisted tale of "Diet, Deception and Death" from Hong Kong's horror director Fruit Chan, it is an extended version of a short horror movie included in "The Three Extremes" horror compilation. Mrs Li is willing to go to any lengths to regain her youthful looks; she seeks out the help of "Aunt Mei", an attractive and young-looking lady who claims that her special Dumpling recipe can rejuvenate those who eat them. The secret ingredient that "Aunt Mei" uses for her life-giving dumplings is a rare commodity but she can source the necessary component using her contacts that she made as a gynaecologist!

Reincarnation (Rinne)

Reincarnation - Spooky Asian Horror directed by Takashi Shimizu
Reincarnation is a terrifying, supernatural horror movie from the creators of the Ringu (Ring), Ju-On (The Grudge) and Dark Water. A young actress gets a role in a new movie that is based on a series of horrific murders committed in the 1970s, where a man murders his family and a number of staff in the hotel in which they are staying. During rehearsals she appears to experience the murders as if she was there resulting in the discovery of an 8mm camera that she has developed only to witness the murders as filmed by the father. Her flashbacks become more intense and real and soon the line between reality and the supernatural no longer exists.

Infection

Infection - Hospital Horror directed by Masayuki Ochiai
In a hospital a nurse's mistake leads to dire consequences for a patient. The night crew decide to cover up the incident in the depths of the institution. Soon a mysterious patient is left at the hospital dying of inexplicable symptoms. The death of the patient starts a mysterious infection which targets only those involved with the cover-up. One by one the guilty participants are infected and die in the most grotesque ways.

Evil Dead Trap

Evil Dead Trap - Asian Extreme Horror directed by Toshiharu Ikeda
Evil Dead Trap is a 1988 extreme Asian horror movie (still banned in Australia). Nami Tsuchiya presents a late night video show and when she receives a video claming to be a snuff movie she and a TV crew investigate the abandoned factory to try and discover the truth behind the purported murder. She soon learns that there is something a lot more gruesome going on as her TV crew get murdered one by one by a small fetus-like creature.

Living Hell: A Japanese Chainsaw Massacre

Living Hell: A Japanese Chainsaw Massacre - Twisted and Extreme Asian Horror directed by Shugo Fujii
Living Hell is a sadistic Japanese horror movie labelled "A Japanese Chainsaw Massacre" (although it lacks the chainsaws!). A wheelchair-bound boy, Yasu, in a dysfunctional Japanese family is subjected to mental and physical torture by a young mute girl, Yuki, and her seemingly harmless grandmother, who appear at the door of his family home and move in! Yasu desperately tries to convince his family of Yuki and her grandmothers evil intentions but his warnings fall on deaf ears and soon the whole family is consumed by the evil duo's reign of terror.

Marebito (aka The Stranger from Afar)

Marebito is a 2004 Japanese horror movie directed by Takashi Shimizu, the director of Ju-on: The Grudge. A fear-obsessed freelance cameraman investigates an urban legend involving mysterious spirits that haunt the subways of Tokyo. He is particularly fascinated by a video tape of a man committing suicide (by stabbing himself in the eye) in a Tokyo subway tunnel. Obsessed with understanding how the suicide victim felt before his death he goes to the exact spot where the suicide happens. His investigation leads him in to the maze of tunnels in the bowels of the Tokyo Underground where he begins to realize that the urban legends were true.

Organ

Organ - Twisted Asian Horror directed by Kei Fujiwara
If you are looking for a twisted and bizarre Japanese horror movie then you need look no further than Organ, an tale of human organ pirates, perverted sex killers and grotesque biology quite different than what you learnt in school. Two police detectives infiltrate a group of underground black market human organ dealers. Things go wrong during the raid on the group's surgical headquarters and only one of the detectives' manages to escape. His grotesque and bloody investigation eventually identifies the criminals and their locations allowing him to plan and execute his violent revenge.

R-Point

R-Point - Vietnam War Horror from Su-chang Kong
Set in 1972 Vietnam during the Vietnam War, R-Point is a Korean horror movie (or K-Horror) written and directed by Su-chang Kong. R-Point is a cursed area of land on an island roughly 150 KM south of Ho-Chi Minh City. Combat veteran LT Choi Tae-in is given nine days to lead a team of nine soldiers to find the missing Battalion 53 in the depths of the jungle which is haunted by the victims of the cruel and bloody war. A simple search and rescue soon becomes something much more terrifying.

Stacy

Stacy - Zombie Horror from Asian director Naoyuki Tomomatsu
Stacy (also known as Stacy: The Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies) is set in the not to distant future where the world is stricken with a curious illness that affects every girl between the age of 15 and 17. Victims experience a period of bliss before dying and then returning as a ravenous, flesh-craving zombie. These zombies are known as "stacy's" and can only be stopped by chopping them into multiple pieces. Some "stacy's" being experimented on in a Japanese military base are set free by a depressed solider and are soon running amok, eating anyone that tries to stop them.

Tetsuo: The Iron Man

Tetsuo: The Iron Man - Hi-Tech Asian Horror directed by Shinya Tsukamoto
Somewhere between a modern-day nightmare and a techno-fetishist's wet dream, Tetsuo: The Iron Man is an extraordinary black and white Japanese cult horror movie from Shinya Tsukamoto. The story follows the gradual mutation of a young man into a metal-being, it is a surreal and disturbing journey into a dark and disturbing world where strange scrap metal beings for the fabric of a strange new reality.
