Guinea Pig 2: Flower of Flesh and Blood (
Za ginipiggu 2: Chiniku no hana) is one sick little
Japanese horror movie, I say little because it's only about 45 minutes long and I say sick because it's about 42 minutes of
blood, guts and gore executed in the most sadistic manner possible.
Guinea Pig 2 is definitely up there with the most
extreme horror I have witnessed, which is just what we want to see!
I won't dwell on the plot for too long as there's not a lot to dwell on. A woman walking home late at night is attacked and knocked out with chloroform, she wakes up tied to a bed in a dungeon where she is drugged with a pain numbing injection and is then
slowly dismembered by a man in a Samurai hat who really needs to get to the dentist a bit more!
The Samurai man's torture is his expression of art as he is carving himself a
flower of flesh and blood, and he films the whole affair using different coloured lighting for each step and explains to the camera what he is about to do each time.
He begins by removing her hands, then her arms, feet and legs, then guts her before chopping off her head and gouging out her eyes. Each step is undertaken with his favourite tool for the job. He fully appreciates the beauty of a woman as he dismembers her and the act is obviously sexual for him as he seems to get very excited then sits down for a cigarette afterwards. He then proceeds to add her to his collection of rotting, maggot infested body parts.
The movie is directed by
Japanese horror movie director Hideshi Hino and considering that the movie was made in 1985 the effects are very good plus I expect the whole concept of the movie was quite revolutionary at the time (this is still one of the most
extreme movies I have seen). There is a whole series of
Guinea Pig movies but
Flowers of Flesh and Blood is definitely the most infamous as I have heard numerous accounts that Charlie Sheen reported this movie to the FBI due to the fact it was basically just a
snuff movie.
This movie is a must for
Asian horror fans just to experience the sheer depravity of the concept of this movie although prepare for your view of
horror movies as a whole to be changed forever, monster movies and
slasher flicks all seem a bit tame now... maybe I need to chill on the
horror movies for a while and watch a bit of Disney!

Anyone with the audaciousness to peruse the Guinea Pig franchise will probably know what to expect by part four, a scarce plot with the intention of showing off twisted gore and sadism to disgust and repulse anyone watching. Mermaid in a Manhole (Ginî piggu: Manhôru no naka no ningyo) follows in the...
