Horror Extreme Blog - More Puppets

I finally got around to watching Puppetmaster 2. It was a definite improvement on the first one (surprisingly for a horror sequel) and it nearly lived up to my expectations.

This time the plot didn't try and convince me that there are normal-yet-mystical people in the world and tried to adopt a scientific approach (all be it a rather whimsical scientific approach).

The puppets brought their master back from the grave and he returned to the hotel to concoct his evil plan to transfer his soul into a life-size puppet and also resurrect his dead wife and put her soul in a lady-puppet so they could live happily ever after (I suppose this gives a new meaning to “got wood”)... and he’d have got away with it if it weren’t for those meddling scientists.

The puppets have much more of a starring role in this movie but I still feel there was too much emphasis on the human characters and their damn emotions. There was also a new puppet on the team!

I still think the franchise has a lot of potential and hopefully one of the many sequels will satisfy my horror movie needs!
