Horror Extreme Blog - Altered States

Altered is a sci-fi-esque horror movie from Eduardo Sánchez (the dude who brought us The Blair Witch Project). I wasn't too impressed with Blair Witch although I missed the ending which apparently made the wobbly-camera-nausea worth it.

Altered is about four men who were abducted by aliens and have spent fifteen years trying to catch one to dish out a bit of revenge as one of their friends was killed in the original abduction. They finally catch one but he proves to be one tough motherf**ker who doesn’t really want to be tortured.

The movie is quite gory (the bit where the alien is has removed one guys guts is splendid), the tension is maintained for the duration of the movie and the effects are pretty good. At one point I thought it was just going to be a sci-fi movie but it definitely turned into a horror movie.

If you liked The Blair Witch Project then definitely watch this movie, if you didn't, still watch this because it's excellent! I’m very surprised that this was a straight to DVD movie.
