Horror Extreme Blog - Asian Junk

I’d heard a shit load about Junk so I was quite excited when it sprang through my letterbox. The thought of an Asian zombie flick seemed quite intriguing as most Asian Horrors I have seen are the twisted, psychological, brainf**k horrors so I was quite looking forward to seeing a Japanese interpretation of a zombie splatter fest.

As zombie movies go it was pretty standard and quite reminiscent of some of Romero’s zombie features, but I must say it ticked all of the boxes a zombie movie needs to tick; loads of gore, gangsters and guns and no complex plot to get in the way of the splatter. (If my tickable boxes included quality acting then there would have been a big red cross in that box, especially from the Americans in the movie!!!).

The basic storyline is that some jewellery thieves get shafted by some gangsters who were going to buy the stolen goods from them, unfortunately for everyone they decide to do the goods-for-cash exchange in an old military base where re-animation experiments were taking place. So it ends up a thieves vs gangsters vs military vs zombies kind of affair, with plenty of sharp things around to make things even more dangerous.

Junk is not the best Asian horror I’ve seen, but it was definitely entertaining.
