Horror Extreme Blog - Wise Ass Scarecrow

Scarecrow is another one of those teen slasher horror movies where the bullied kid's horrible life is made much better when he gets superhuman powers due to some kind of bizarre accident. The bizarre accident in this case is possessing a scarecrow when his mom's new one-night-stand strangles him to death. He then uses his new scarecrow powers to kick some bully-ass and maybe to get revenge on some close family.

The movie was your usual teen terror movie where all the teens die in gruesome ways but it also blurred the line between the good guys and the bad guys. The Scarecrow is obviously a spawn of Satan but all the bully's are such bitches that you are glad to see them die.

The downside of this movie (as with most slashers) is that the Scarecrow has this tendency for crummy one-liners every time a victim is about to meet their demise, movie monsters are so much better when they are just humourless machines-of-evil, when they are wisecrackers a lot of the horror goes away.

I think it’s about time I watched something a bit nastier!
