Horror Extreme Blog - A Fantastically Crap Horror Movie
Posted on: 06/20/2007
I remember the Re-Animator movie from way back in the day and I also remember enjoying it. I know there have been numerous sequels but I've never got around to watching any until now. Beyond Re-Animator was on last night (I'm not sure where this comes in the order of sequels), so I watched it!
It was trash… but the kind of trash I really enjoy. The re-animated corpse at the beginning (with no bottom jaw) was splendid and sets the story for fifteen or so years in the past. The zombie thing kills a girl whilst her little brother watches helplessly. The police arrive and finally catch up with Dr. Herbert West (played marvellously by Jeffrey Combs) and lock him up.
He carries on his experiments in prison and the new prison doctor just happens to be the younger brother from the first scene (but fifteen years older). Together they perfect the re-animation process with some highly amusing failed experiments along the way.
It’s top quality gore, dark humour, cringe worthy acting and all the other aspects you’d expect of a crummy horror movie.
I’ve heard there is a new Re-Animator movie coming out soon, hopefully more of the same!
