Horror Extreme Blog - Asian Not-So-Extreme Horror

There was an Asian Horror sale on in my local DVD store so I just had to pick up a movie, I was in a hurry so I just picked up the first think I hadn't seen which happened to be called "Ab Normal Beauty". The cover said it was sick and nasty so I was instantly sold on the concept.

I’m not sure whether I am becoming de-sensitised to Asian Horror movies or this one was genuinely quite tame. It was quite a good story (and I suppose a bit twisted) but I would have put it in the Asian Psychological Thriller camp rather than the Asian Extreme Horror.

The story was about an artist who became obsessed with photographing dead and dying things and how she got over it. There was a bit of a twist at the end (but not a very good one) and the gore and violence was minimal.

I think it could probably shock commercial audiences but my horror movie needs are a bit more extreme. I think I’m gonna have to invest in some more Takashi Miike movies... as they usually manage to shock me.
