Horror Extreme Blog - Return to the Hostel of Horror

I've finally got around to watching Eli Roth's Hostel II. After a few watches I really appreciated Hostel, the first viewing was quite disappointing as my hopes were really high following all the hype. I was expecting something really extreme but I'd seen a lot worse. The next few viewings made me appreciate the story, the directing and the fact that it was quite an original concept for a modern horror.

Once again I had high hopes for the sequel. It was pretty good but my hopes were too high again, at one point when the nerdy girl was being tortured I felt that the movie could get quite horrific but unfortunately this was the horror highlight.

I felt Hostel 2 got back to the roots of horror movies and the movie seemed quite "traditional"(?). It’s basically Hostel all over again but with different characters, a slightly different ending and a bit more of a slasher feel. No longer original but definitely a good movie, not as good as Hostel or Cabin Fever.
