Horror Extreme Blog - The Horror Now Born

Having been mildly amused by the concept of The Unborn I decided to give the sequel a run for it's money, hoping that The Unborn 2 would take the concept of a killer mutant baby to a distasteful extreme.

The opening scene begins with a woman in a playground looking for a particular child amongst the happy and playful children. When she finds him she pulls out a revolver and pops him! A quite flinch worthy and politically incorrect beginning to the movie so I assumed the horror would continue up from there. Unfortunately I was very disappointed.

The movie is about the "now born" toddlers, who were unborn in the first movie (does that make sense?), more specifically it revolves around Joey, mutant son of Catherine Moore (Michele Greene) and the woman from the first scene hunting down all mutant babies.

The movie could have been good, there is much more violence and gore than the first but the effects are really quite poor for a 1994 horror movie, Joey looks like he would fit in better with the cast of Sesame Street. The storyline was quite weak (I can't even remember how it ended), acting was nothing special and nothing else really grabbed my attention.

I would recommend watching the opening scene then switching off and watching It’s Alive.
