SLAVE – Directed by: Darryn Welch, Written by: Brett Goldstein, Starring: Sam Page, Natassia Malthe, Michael Maxwell & Howard Marks
SLAVE is a twisted tale of how the most basic of actions can lead to the most brutal of consequences. Following his directing duties on short film Wish You Were Here, Darryn Welch gets behind the camera once more for this unrelenting thriller from writer Brett Goldstein. TV star Sam Page (CSI:Miami, Madmen) and Natassia Malthe (BloodRayne 2) star alongside Michael Maxwell & Howard Marks in this dark story based on true events.
SLAVE follows Americans Georgie and David as they arrive in Spain seeking the wedding blessing of David’s estranged and criminal father. They are soon invited to stay at his palatial Villa where they find themselves entering a world of wealth and danger beyond their wildest dreams. When David’s father is away on ‘business’ they head out for a night on the town where they meet seedy nightclub manager Marlon. He treats them as honored guests, laying on champagne and drugs, but after leaving Georgie alone for an instance David returns to find she has vanished without trace, or a single witness. Now David must wade through corrupt local officials, drug dealers and crazy locals to find her, but is he ready to discover the truth?

Here’s the press release:
Adapted by award winning writer Eakasit Thairaat from his own comic book story ‘13th Quiz Show’, along with the film¹s director Chookiat Sakveerakul (The Love Of Siam; Evil), 13: GAME OF DEATH stars Thai-American pop singer, dancer and actor Krissada Sukosol (Bangkok Loco), Sarunyoo Wongkrachang (Ong Bak 2) and Nathapong Arunnetra (The Love Of Siam) in a movie that recalls elements of US blockbuster thrillers such ‘Falling Down’, ‘The Game’, ‘FeardotCom’ and the recent hit, ‘Eagle Eye’.
Mild-mannered salesman Phuchit (Sukosol) is a man at his wit’s end. Having lost both his job and his car on the same day he is then obliged to give the last of his money to his mother, leaving him on the verge of destitution. That is until he receives a mysterious phone call offering him the chance of winning 100 million baht on an internet game show. All he has to do to hit the jackpot is complete 13 tasks, in order, without revealing his participation in the game to anyone around him. At each stage he will receive an interim cash payment directly into his bank account. However, should he fail to complete any given task, he will lose all the money he has earned up to that stage thereby making his considerable efforts to reach that point worthless.
Initially sceptical, he completes the first challenge to kill a fly and finds the first payment has been made into his bank account. The second challenge to eat the fly and its cash reward confirms that the game is real. But as the challenges become greater and more grotesque, both morally and physically (subsequent tasks include such things as having to deliberately make a group of young children cry, feasting on dog faeces in a fancy restaurant and much, much worse), Phuchit must decide whether he should quit and lose everything or face up to the fact that he has reached a point at which there is no turning back.
A smart, shocking and funny satire of media culture and human greed, 13: GAME OF DEATH is a stomach-churningly intense thriller that will have many viewers squirming in their seats as the film’s innocuous former salesman experiences things that make the challenges of real-life reality shows such as ‘I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!’ look like a walk in the park.

Satanic Panic
Good news for the lovely people at Marc Selz Productions, they’ve just got a world distribution deal for Satanic Panic. Here’s the press release:
Marc Selz Productions, LLC. has just signed a world distribution deal for Satanic Panic with Celebrity Video Distribution out of Los Angeles, CA. CVD is fresh new company that has people with years of experience under their belts and we look forward to working with them. The tentative release date for the DVD/Bluray of Satanic Panic is October 13, 2009. It took our company four years from beginning to end to finish Satanic with a lot of blood, sweat and tears from everyone who worked on the film and we’re thrilled to see it get distribution. A new trailer will be finished next week and we will send it your way as well.
Satanic Panic is inspired by true accounts and the craze that took place in the late 1970’s and early 80’s, follows in the footsteps of classic horror films from that generation. In 1980, ten year old twins Toby and Cindy Richards were abducted by a group of demented satanic cult members. Cindy managed to escape, but Toby was never found. Twenty-five years later, a group of six friends take a canoe trip to re-kindle their friendship, only to find themselves in trouble with crazy, small town locals and the same satanic cult that took Toby years ago. Can the friends make it out of the town of Thornwood alive and in one piece, or will they become victims of sacrifice.
Satanic Panic stars Cyn (Lockout) Dulay, Nikki Taylor Melton, Steve (The Telling) Christopher, The DVD/BlueRay will include 16:9 widescreen presentation, Dolby 5.1 surround sound mix of the film, Director’s commentary, some behind the scenes footage, creature rendering slide show, and trailer. We will have more specifics as the release date gets closer. This will be our third distribution deal for our third independent horror film. We’re really excited and hope that the fans will be looking forward to seeing our film.
We’re looking forward to it and will be posting a review as soon as we get our hands on a copy.
