Shauna Macdonald
'Shauna Macdonald' was born in Malaysia where her father was teaching English, but her family moved back to Edinburgh, Scotland when she was a baby and was raised there.
She made her acting debut when she was just four as a fairy in a church hall in Portobello, Edinburgh, where she attended the local high school Portobello High School.
She attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow but took a term out during her second year to play the role of school teacher Catherine MacKay in the period romance The Rocket Post.
She has lived in London, England since graduating but has not ruled out a move back to Edinburgh where she grew up. After several TV shows such as Spooks, she landed one of the leads in the Neil Marshall film The Descent.
Even though she doesn’t live in Scotland’s capital any more, her work brings her there frequently. She has recently performed in the city’s Lyceum theatre in Realism. Edinburgh was also the location of Channel 4’s Wedding Belles.
She has recently finished working on the sci-fi action Mutant Chronicles, released in the UK in October 2008, and a psychological thriller The Farm which has no release date as yet.
Shauna is married to actor Cal Macaninch and has recently become a mother.
She recently took part in the Great Swim at Windermere on Saturday 13th September 2008.
She is currently rehearsing a production of Mary Stuart for the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, playing the character of Leicester.
