Editorial Review - Amazon.com
Start spreadin' the news... Jason Voorhees, the cleaver-hoisting man in the hockey mask, has finally left Crystal Lake behind and taken his vagabond shoes to the Big Apple. Actually, Jason spends most of his time on a cruise ship bound for Manhattan, carving up the unluckiest high school graduation party ever. You'd think the change of scenery might breathe new life, or death, into the series, but chapter 8 is standard stalk 'em and slash 'em fare, albeit with a nautical slant. The title hints at a comic tone, but except for the one-joke idea that Jason fits right into the menacing urban scene, forget it. (The comedy would wait until the surprisingly entertaining Jason X.) This one does have a pretty leading lady, Jensen Daggett, whose visions of the young drowned Jason are occasionally creepy. The grown-up Jason, like "these little-town blues," is melting away. --Robert Horton
Jason leaves Crystal Lake, and heads to New York...

It's cool how Jason climbs on a huge ship full of graduate students heading to New York and has a massacre on the ship. At least it's different from the teens staying at an abandoned house and having sex, then Jason shows up. The main star named Rennie, her boyfriend, some teachers, and a black boxer survive the boat trip from hell, but now they must survive New York...and Jason. It turns out that Rennie had been to Camp Crystal Lake and and was almost killed by Jason when she was a child. I always thought it was funny when Jason breaks the boombox and gets the punks angry and Jason shows them his real face and they all run away...that's hilarious! If you love Jason and New York, you'll love FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN!!!

Nice title.
Jason takes Manhatten????
At this point, I'm just numb when it comes to just how bad this series has gotten.
I heard when the series started they were going to make thirteen of them.
They got close, a lot closer than they ever should have.
The only good part of this movie is when Jason is walking down the street and kicks those guys boombox.
They try to pick a fight and he lifts up his mask and they run away. LOL
The rest of the movie, same as every Friday after part two, falls flat.
Dreadful script, dreadful acting.
Horrid from start to finish.
Not recommended.
