Awesome for the people who love dark comedy

A Customer Review by FluffyTheCamel
ONLY buy this movie if you like to laugh... The whole thing is meant to be funny/ironic, like a satire. There is lovely gore and quite a few sex scenes, but that's Eli Roth for you. I personally LOVE this movie, but all my friends think it's very very strange.
My point is, you might as well buy this movie--USED-- because if you're looking at it, you really might like it. It's not scary, it is not a horror, it's simply discusting and wonderful. There really is nothing else like it.

You'll Laugh Your Face Off

A Customer Review by The name says it all
If you expect a serious horror film then you'll be badly disappointed with Cabin. If, on the other hand, you don't mind a clever spoof of the genre then you'll find a well executed example here.

The cliches in Cabin are simply too numerous and too obvious for me to conclude that the writers really meant this film to be taken seriously. You have the country-folk that don't trust strangers, the nice guy and the nice girl he likes, the frat boy oaf, the token black guy, not to mention the self-centered jerk and his hot girlfriend. There's even a scene where the hot girl says to the nice guy (something to the tune of), 'Let's have sex because that's what people always do in these moments'.

A score of such scenes litter the gratuitous gore-fest that is Cabin Fever. As a horror film it falls utterly flat - it builds no tension at all because you know pretty much what's going to happen before it occurs. In fact, part of the fun of the movie is watching the characters blunder from one obviously stupid decision to the next. You'll be yelling at the screen: 'Don't lean over that, there's an infected body in there and that ladder looks unstable...oh, now there you go, now you're in the water. You stupid guy.'

This movie is utterly enjoyable as a comedy-horror mash up, you just have to know what you're walking into. DVD has making-of and commentary, plus a "family friendly version" (I kid you not) of the film.
