A Slasher Movie typically involves a number of teenagers being creatively killed off one-by-one by an extreme psychopath or a supernatural killer often for revenge but sometimes just for fun! Modern Slasher Movies can be fairly light hearted but still often quite shock filled and extremely gory.
Many slasher anti-heroes are now infamous due to the popularity of the genre (and the substantial amount of sequels that slashers spawn), such as Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street, Michael Myers from Halloween and Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th.
Alfred Hitchcok's Psycho is often cited as the original Slasher Flick and has inspired hundreds of slashers from Dementia 13, Blood Feast and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to the more recent Final Destination and Wrong Turn.
